Saturday, September 28, 2013
GOVERNMENT housing agencies kicked off this year's Housing Fair 2013 with a bang. It highlighted the awarding ceremony to local government units, beneficiaries and agencies on its opening at Lim Ket Kai center’s rotunda on September 27 and graced by the country’s second top official, Vice President Jesus Joseph Maria “Jejomar” Binay.
The three-day housing fair will run until today (September 29), so rush to the site before it closes tonight.
Its theme is "Hamugaway sa Kaugalingong Panimalay" that aims to provide a venue for the public to get information on the various housing programs and materials available in the local market. A prospective client will likely get an idea how much one’s budget is good for. Or could one afford to get that dream house?
Grace Ceres B. Saniel, Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council in Northern Mindanao coordinator, said the Housing Fair this year has been conceptualized by the city government, the Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board, National Housing Authority, Home Development Mutual Fund (PagIbig), National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation, and the Social Housing Finance Corporation to respond to queries of the city’s residents who are interested to invest on housing.
Twenty-four exhibitors ranging from developers, housing agencies, housing materials gathered in one venue to showcase different ideas and steps to take in building houses that are easy on the budget and yet durability is guaranteed.
Industry experts and top officials of the national shelter agencies will give different presentations on updates and important developments in the city's property and real estate from the low-end to high end properties.
For HDMF or PagIbig, it has come up with great package to their members who desire to acquire own houses. PagIbig is aimed at providing its members their housing needs. The public can get more information about Pagibig’s programs at the fair.
Vice President Binay who opened the housing fair also recognized over 350 participants from local government units, housing beneficiaries, members of different homeowners associations and exhibitors in the region on the Comprehensive Land Use program (Clup) zero backlog program.
Binay awarded 60 local LGUs for the completing their respective CLUP zero backlog program.
For his part, Tagoloan Mayor Paulino Emano said the recognition has boosted the morale of the residents of the communities where more than 300 houses were constructed. The houses, Emano said, were distributed to beneficiaries who were formerly danger zones residents and those who were relocated due to industrialization in his town.
Emano said the Clup program of Vice President Binay has given hope to those who don’t own houses.
Binay told guests Friday that about 8,000 houses have been built in various resettlement sites for victims of Tropical storm Sendong, while over a thousand more are being built Cagayan de Oro and Iligan.
Binay had earlier awarded certificates of house and lot award (Cela) to 251 beneficiaries who will be resettled in Bayanihan Village Phase 1 in Macapaya in Barangay Camaman-an, Cagayan de Oro City.
The project has a total land area of 4.7307 hectares and will generate 426 housing units with 50 square meter lot and 21 square meter floor area.
The couple Antonio and Narcisa Novales was recognized by VP Binay for sharing their land in Indahag to build more relocation sites for the Sendong victims.
Antonio, who works at the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, said their 16,706 square meter parcel of land will give happiness to future beneficiaries.
Antonio said the amount paid by the government from that parcel of land will go a long way considering that they are already retiring from work soon.
Last year, the Vice President distributed an initial of 30 certificates of award to the beneficiaries.
He also said that through the Expresslane project of the Community Mortgage Program, 13 projects benefiting more than 800 families affected by Sendong have been approved.
The Expresslane project has designed to hasten the processing of community associations' loan applications.
