JASAAN, MISAMIS ORIENTAL – Victims of a November fire in Barangay San Antonio of this town recently received rice donations from Taiwanese businessmen through the efforts of Misamis Oriental (2nd District) Congresswoman Juliette Uy.
The World Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce and Taiwan Association in the Philippines delivered a 20-ton shipment of rice for distribution to poor families who have been victims of calamities and disasters in the province’s second district.
“I convey my gratitude to the Taiwan Association for including me from among the select few Philippine leaders you chose to trust in distributing your rice donation to Filipinos who are in dire need of assistance, especially those who were victims of disasters and calamities. The 26 families who lost their homes to a fire last November 3 are logically the first to receive this love from Taiwan,” Cong. Uy said in her speech during the short turnover ceremonies held in Jasaan.
Also present at the event were Dr. Fang Hsin Lee, President of the World Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce, Taiwan Association of the Philippines President David Shih, Vice President Cheng Cheng Lee, Secretary General Tom Lin, Director Donford Liu, Former Taiwan Association Presidents Simmon Huang and Wayne Chi and the barangay council of San Antonio, Jasaan, Misamis Oriental.
“Let this rice donation symbolize the generosity and friendship that we share with the Taiwanese people. This gesture from the Taiwan Association makes us feel that friendship which will not be easily forgotten,” Cong. Uy said.
