BRINGING in their popular ‘I heart’ shirts, Islands Souvenirs opened its doors to the City of Golden Friendship last June 20, 2014. Their newest store is located at the East Concourse of Lim Ket Kai mall.

With love for culture and history comes a brand that incorporates the 7, 107 islands of the Philippines in each product.

Initially based in Cebu, the Islands group gives Kagay–anons another reason to be proud of their own.

From a small cart at a department store in Cebu twenty years ago, Islands souvenirs revolved from cottage-type products to a brand that offers fun, quirky and creative looks.

The ‘I heart’ line, which started last February 2010 for the Islands Valentine’s Day campaign, wanted to cater to a different kind of love – love of place.

Since then, the personalized tees have been a favorite of many.

The launching of the Islands store consisted of prominent people in the city.

City Mayor Oscar Moreno, who is pleased to have another investment in the city, led the ribbon cutting with Mr. Albino Lim of Lim Ket Kai Mall and Ms. Camille Aldeguer, executive vice president of the Islands Group.
“CdeO is a hub for businesses and there’s a lot of travel going on in the city,” said Ms. Aldeguer.

“It’s considered an entry point. There’s Dahilayan, and the Whitewater Rafting. Tourism is very much alive here,” she added.

Islands Souvenirs local ambassadors Irene Aserios, Joji Ferrer, Nicole Abas-Datayan, Chingkee Te, Gil Macaibay III, Maxine Monasterio, Desiree Lim, Jeminah Ferrer, Kyle Jennerman, Nadine Legaspi, Awi Chaves, Francis Velasquez, and RB Banaag also graced the event.

Chingkee, an artist, and owner of Chingkee Tea, a tea house in Cagayan de Oro, voiced out her interest in the designs.

“It’s more funky and trendy. There’s art in it. It is best for backpackers both Filipinos and foreigners,” she said.

Islands CdO ambassadors have varied interests, from blogging, baking, radio and TV personalities, environmentalists, etc., each proud of being a Kagay–anon.

Islands Souvenirs will open another store at Centrio mall this coming July.
