The family name, when used as a brand, serves to reassure the customer. Toyota and Peugeot, for example, have strong brand identities that consumers believe in.

Regional bamboo industry group organized

Oil review committee shocks transport group

THE local National Confederation of Transport Union (NCTU) in Northern Mindanao region was shocked of the recent decision of the Independent Oil Price Review Committee (IOPRC) absolving oil companies from overpricing accusations.

Joel Gabatan, NCTU’s regional coordinator, said the transport sector leaders are threatening another large street demonstration nationwide to express dismay over the “questionable decision of the review committee” and to pressure the independent body to do another investigation.

Lower VAT, subsidies for LPG, diesel urged

WITH oil companies again hiking liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices big time, Bayan Muna party-list Representative Teddy Casiño once again called on the government to mitigate the price shock by reducing the value added tax (VAT) on oil from 12 percent to six percent, or use the Malamapaya funds to subsidize LPG and diesel.

Oil companies Petron and Total imposed a P6 per kilogram (VAT exclusive) increase in LPG prices on Saturday. Other oil companies are scheduled to hike their prices Sunday.

BSP launches EFLC in Oro, Misamis Oriental
