THE Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) in Northern Mindanao is planning to establish a Cooperative Market in Upper Carmen where highly-competitive products of different cooperatives all throughout Northern Mindanao would be displayed.
CDA-X regional director Orlando Ravanera said the Cooperative Market would be set up at the lot owned by Xavier University in Manresa, fronting SM City Cagayan de Oro in Upper Carmen.
He said the project would be implemented in cooperation with Xavier University which has signified its interest in putting up the market.

"While a number of coo-peratives in Region X are producing quality products, showcasing these products is very limited.
As experienced during exhibits in malls, these products are commanding demand from consumers.
It has, therefore, come of age to commercialize these products which are highly competitive," Ravanera said.
He said with the project, the region would now banner the truism to the consu-mers that when they buy, they are actually casting a vote, choosing from several economic alternatives like local versus foreign, essentials versus junks, small versus big.
"When they buy the pro-ducts of the cooperatives, they are buying the essentials. They are buying healthy food and they are in fact, voting for the livelihoods of the poor Filipinos," Ravanera said. (Terry D.C. Betonio)
