Celebrity game reset

FANS of Joross Gamboa among other celebrities slated to play hoops in Cagayan de Oro may--after all--have to wait for the right time to watch their showbiz idols strut their stuffs in flesh.

This, after organizers of the Celebrity Basketball exhibition game supposedly set to unfold on Saturday (Jan. 23) at Xavier University gym had informed Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro of the much-awaited fanfare's postponement.

Event coordinator Harvey Henk Calubiran cited some minor glitches as the reason for rescheduling the event "maybe sometimes in February."

Calubiran texted Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro: "Ma-postpone kay the sponsors want longer exposure of their advertisements."

Asked if the project's eventual cancellation is also possible, Calubiran replied "yes", though he was quick to aver that they're optimistic the show will go on "kay actually andam ug plastar naman ang tanan ang go-signal na lang sa sponsors ang gihulatan."

If the projected game between the Celebrity All-Stars and Cagayan de Oro's own cast of Collegiate All-Stars will push through, Calubiran said the so-called "Friends of Candy de la Rosa-Darimbang" intends to bring here Gamboa and fellow showbiz luminaries such as Paolo Paraiso, Luis Alandy, Josh Ivan Morales, Aaron, Villaflor, Jose Sarsola, Joem Bascon, Marco Alvarez, Carlo Guevarra and Xian Lim.

Among the local dribblers cited earlier to challenge the celebrities include Xavier University's Bee Datingguinoo and Jett Yaranon, Corpus Christi's Ranz Ostrea, Sacred Heart's JK Casiño, Pilgrim's Rhodelle Nagac, American behemoth Neil de Cleene and one Patrick Jay Ocsio. (LLS)
