THE construction of the P3.86 million circular ground reservoir in Barangay Indahag will start soon as groundbreaking of the project was held at the site Thursday led by Mayor Constantino Jaraula.
Jaraula said the construction of the reservoir aims to address the insufficient water supply in the low-lying eastern side of Cagayan de Oro, particularly Barangays Macasandig and Camaman-an.
He said the project also hopes to cater to the huge water supply demand on said areas as the upper portions of Barangays Macasandig and Camaman-an partly covers the mixed-use business and realty development of Ayala Land’s 250-hectare prime property.
The reservoir sits on a highly-elevated area in barangay Indahag.
Jaraula said he is optimistic that the water supply from the reservoir could even reach up to Barangay Bugo and to as far as Jasaan town in the province of Misamis Oriental due to strong gravitational force.
The circular ground reservoir, which measures 3.05 meters below the ground and 6.2 meters above the ground with a size of 13.6 meters in diameter, has a capacity to produce 800 cubic meters of water.
The project’s funding would be sourced out from the City Government’s annual share from the Cagayan de Oro Water District (COWD). (CIO)
