THE Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) commended the Police Regional Office (PRO) in Northern Mindanao for topping the anti-drug operations in Mindanao, besting other five regions in the country.
Undersecretary Clarence Paul Oaminal, DDB vice chair, said among the six police regional offices, PRO-X leads in the number of arrests and cases filed since January 1, 2009 up to December based in the Operational Accomplishment Report of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Anti Drugs Special Operations Task Force.

In 2009, Oaminal said PRO-X has arrested 263 drug pushers/users and filed 192 cases.
He said it also seized more than a million worth of marijuana and shabu as he emphasized that such accomplishment has contributed to 7,503 pusher/users arrested and 5,372 cases filed nationwide.
"This is impressive considering that the PNP does not have special operational funding on anti drug operations," Oaminal said.
He said DDB also recognizes the role of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) as part of PRO-X accomplishments as the PNP could not operate without the supervision of PDEA, being the lead agency task to neutralize illegal drugs activities in the country.
"The PDEA is also a part of it. Ang PNP accomplishments man gud ang gitan-aw sa DDB although PDEA has its own accomplishment also," Oaminal told Sun.Star Cagayan.
