CAMIGUIN – As Kapuso Network graced the Lanzones Festival in Camiguin province on October 27, Kapuso stars Bea Binene, Ken Chan and Gladys Guevarra confessed it was their first time to set foot in the island.
Rhian Ramos, lead actress of newest primetime drama series Genesis, was also in the province to join Kapusong Camiguinons in the festivity.
Lanzones Festival is celebrated annually in Camiguin, specifically in the town of Mambajao, as a thanksgiving for the island’s bountiful harvest.
Before the Kapuso Night at the Provincial Tourism Center, the Kapuso stars had a few hours to unwind in Bahay Bakasyunan, where Bea and Ken were seen giggling and teasing all the time.
It is not a secret, especially to their fans, that these two have an undeniably overflowing chemistry.
“We are really good friends. We share common interests. Mahilig kaming kumain,” Ken said.
He added that they love playing badminton together, but because their schedule has been hectic recently, they didn’t have the time to play it.
“I really like regional. Nag-eenjoy talaga ako. Yan din ang parehas kami ni Bea, we love to travel,” Ken gleefully added.
Both of them loved the place. In fact, Ken said that they already went to Katibawasan Falls in Mambajao and planned to explore the famous White Island when they would have spare time.
Ken was discovered in commercial ads and became a Candy magazine model before entering showbiz. He auditioned in Tween Hearts when he heard that it needed to cast another batch of stars.
“I want to engage into action films or casting (someday) kasi nakakadagdag siya ng edge sa pagiging artist,” Ken told Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro.
Ken will star in ‘Maynila’ for the whole month of November and will play different characters.
He also did an independent film ‘Tadhana’ which was released this year at schools and in Singapore while Bea did a cameo-role in ‘Delusyon’ with Jake Vargas as lead star.
On the same hand, Bea has a new album ‘Dito sa Puso Ko’ which will have a launching on November 9 which Ken is also a part of.
“The album is all love songs which contains nine tracks – eight songs are revivals and one original song. May duet kami dito ni Ken,” Bea explained.
When asked what would they be doing in five years, the two immediately responded – “I want to become a doctor or a pilot,” Ken said while Bea wants to become a reporter.
This is not so unexpected for Bea since she was honed for this (reporting) when she co-starred in ‘Lovely Day’ when she was still a kid.
“Gusto kong maging reporter kasi napaka-challenging ng trabaho. But I also want to be good at what I do (acting)… Di naman kasi ibig sabihin na magaling ka ng artista sa dami ng luhang iniyak mo sa mga eksena, nakikita yan sa expression ng mukha,” she said.
Moreover, they both agreed that an actor/actress should have a good attitude and discipline toward work, time and co-workers to survive the industry.
Rhian’s 2nd visit to Camiguin
Meanwhile, Rhian Ramos said in an interview with Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro that it was her second time to visit Camiguin and yet still the place amazes her.
“Everyone’s very friendly here in Camiguin. They are not timid but very polite,” she said.
Earlier that day, Rhian went scuba diving and munched seafood.
She always looks forward to be in the island-province.
Rhian is one of the lead stars and Dingdong Dantes’ leading lady in the primetime teleserye ‘Genesis’ which delves into doomsday-action-saving-the-earth plot.
She also co-stars with Piolo in an independent film, which is yet to be released.
According to her, it is a good thing nowadays that artists’ station origin is not an issue in making films and that the collaboration is nice which helps artists grow.
She is also very happy with his relationship with KC Montero.
“More than a year na kami. Para lang kaming magkaibigan. We’re super honest with everything,” she said.
Rhian said that they are very spontaneous due to the hectic schedule they both have, but they always maintain quality time together like spending their leisure on traveling to places or go food-tripping.
Thus, the GMA-7 stars performed with so much gusto at the Kapuso event in celebrating the fruitful harvest of the island through its Lanzones Festival.
Gladys seized the audience in a bunch of laughter. Witty jokes were thrown that made the crowd chortle.
Rhian charmed the crowd and gained cheerful welcome while the two young sweethearts Bea and Ken gave ‘kilig’ to mark the night.
The Kapuso event was part of its weekend show “Let’s Fiesta!” which airs every Sunday afternoon in GMA-7. The Kapuso Lanzones Festival event will be aired on November 24, 2013.
