AFTER a series of nationwide auditions, GMA Network introduced this generation’s newest child wonders who will breathe life to the four lead characters in the remake of the hit drama series, Yagit.

These child wonders will definitely capture the hearts and touch the lives of the Kapuso viewers with their innate acting skills and their ability to connect with the people through their heartful acting performances.

Acclaimed director Gina Alajar expressed her delight on finally finding the four kids who will star in Yagit following the tedious screenings.

“Masaya ako at contented dahil noong nag-uumpisa pa lang ang auditions, sinabi ko na yung criteria ko, yung hinahanap ko. And I think nakita na namin ngayon. Walang itulak-kabigin sa kanila, lahat sila gusto mong yakapin,” she said.

Portraying the role of Elisa is Chlaui Malayao, a six-year-old sweet girl who can instantly catch the attention and win the affection of everyone with her angelic face. Her fragile personality even fits the role of Elisa who cannot take to be away from her mother, Dolores Macabuhay, to be played by Kapuso actress Yasmien Kurdi. Their charming faces make their mother and daughter tandem in the small screen more realistic.

“She has that innocence na tanggap niya kung sino at ano ang nanay niya sa story. Si Yasmien kasi is a very pretty girl, magandang panoorin na maganda yung nanay at maganda rin yung anak,” Alajar noted.

Playing siblings and Elisa’s cousins Josie and Tomtom Macabuhay are witty 12-year-old kids Judie Dela Cruz andJemwell Ventinilla, respectively. Judie, who has a mature personality at her young age, certainly fits the role of being the ‘ate’ of the group who is full of dreams.

“Naghanap kasi kami ng batang maganda ang mga mata para makita mo sa kanya yung mga pangarap na gusto niya. So nung nakita namin siya, her eyes are very expressive pero alam mong merong sadness. Kaya bagay na bagay sa kanya ang maging Josie,” Alajar said.

Meanwhile, Jemwell, who will give life to Tomtom’s chubby character, stood out from the crowd during the auditions not just because of his humorous personality, but also because of his comedic timing. He knows the perfect time to deliver his witty lines, making him perfect for the role.

Alajar also has nothing but nice words to say about JM Andres, the eight-year-old boy who is set to portray the role of Ding Reyes. “Noong pinapanood namin siya sa VTR nung auditions, we were able to create a sense of sympathy with his character. Kasi yung role niya silang dalawa lang ng nanay niya yung nakatira sa bahay. Nung nakita namin kung paano niya pagsilbihan yung nanay niya, nakaramdam kami ng awa sa kanya.”

Catch this generation’s up and coming child actors in the highly-anticipated remake of the 1980s phenomenal drama series, Yagit, this September on GMA Afternoon Prime.
