XCCA to host ‘Panday Kultura’ sympo-A A +A

THE Xavier Center for Culture and the Arts together with the Central Student Government will hold ‘Panday Kultura’ – a Cultural Awareness and Development Symposium for Student Leaders on August 13, 2014, 8 a.m. to 11:30 am at the XU Little Theatre.
This symposium promotes Filipino cultural understanding that is an integral pillar of sustainable development.
Student leaders are given inputs on the use of culture and heritage protection, promotion and preservation in governance.
This symposium also aims at forming responsible and culturally aware and motivated leaders in the future.
Our speaker is Prof. Steven Patrick PC Fernandez, DFA of the Integrated Performing Arts Guild (IPAG), MSU-IIT.
His works on culture and arts are anchored on development and education.
Dr. Fernandez received the Fr. Francisco R. Demetrio SJ Award on Culture and the Arts in 2011.
He has been cited as one of the top 200 intellectuals in the world and has been included in the CCP encyclopedia of the arts.
Also, XCCA, NSTP and the Humanities Cluster of XU Department of English Language and Literature present ‘Tuklas Sining’ – Journey to the 7 Arts in the Philippines as Documented by the Cultural Center of the Philippines on August 16, 2014 at 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the XU Little Theater.
Tuklas Sining presents documentary essays of the Philippine Arts by the various experts.
These arts include Architecture, Theatre, Dance, Music, Literature, Film and Visual Arts. Tuklas Sining is an enrichment activity for formation and the Humanities.
Panday Kultura and Tuklas Sining are new cultural education programs of Xavier Center for Culture and the Arts. We invite the community to these programs. Admission or registration is free.
