8th Araw ng Poblacion to be celebrated on July 29-31

TAGOLOAN, Misamis Oriental -- Local officials of Poblacion in this town are preparing for their upcoming "8th Araw ng Poblacion," to be celebrated on July 29 to 31.

During the barangay session on Tuesday headed by Poblacion Barangay Chair Mario Charlie Emano, possible entertaining presentations for the three-day celebration on were discussed.

Emano said he wants the celebration to be more grandiose as compared to last year for the benefit of his constituents in Tagoloan.

Barangay Councilor Zericka M. Bandivas, who planned the three-day event, gladly discussed to her fellow colleagues the continuous flow of the program.

Bandivas said since July is also a Nutrition Month, they will start with a feeding program for malnourished children in the area.

On the same day after sunset, a battle of the bands will be held at the plaza as part of their campaign against vandalism, which is open to all existing local bands in Tagoloan.

During the second day of the celebration, a variety of activities will be expected such as a dog show sponsored by the council, their traditional "dakop baboy," "barkada appear," "katkat kawayan," volleyball tournament and other Filipino games that have long been forgotten by most Filipinos.

Bandivas said highlighting the day would be the "Poblacion Got talent," which was decided to be open to all constituents with exceptional talents and skills.

During the "araw" itself, the council will hold a Mass to celebrate another year to be followed by a "Pamahaw sa Covered Court" where free-flowing coffee will be provided as well as "suman," bread, sweet potato and other native food free for everyone.

After which, free haircut, bloodletting, medical mission and legal consultation will be provided in the covered court.

There will also be an airsoft competition, organized by the Inter-Fraternal Council of Tagoloan to encourage peace between fraternities.

To end the Araw ng Poblacion, a grand disco will be organized by the Sangguniang Kabataan.

Emano said all security measures will be planned to make the event a success.
