Balingasag Hospital chief Tofil awardee

THE Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental on Tuesday congratulated Dr. Ramon M. Nery, chief of hospital operation of Balingasag Provincial District Hospital, for being chosen as one of The Outstanding Filipino (Tofil) Awardees by the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Senate Philippines.

The award is reportedly due to Nery’s significant contribution in alleviating the ailing healthcare situation in the poorest province of Mindanao and for improving the services and features of public hospitals by introducing innovative schemes such as real-time-online consultation (Tele-Health) and referrals that made quality health care services accessible to the poor.

The Tofil awards was conceived by JCI Senate Philippines in 1988 to institutionalize public recognition of men and women, 41 years of age and over, whose exemplary achievement are worthy of emulation.

It also aims to give recognition to those outstanding Filipino men and women who have made significant contribution to the advancement of their profession, public welfare and national development.

Babiera said Nery is recognized for the many programs that he have done in Misamis Oriental, including in his previous assignments in other province.

“Dr. Ramon Nery is instrumental in the pioneered endeavor that provide hospital services to overseas Filipino workers (OFW) from Mindanao and strategic innovation and schemes that made quality health care accessible to the poor, which it has significantly contributed for winning the ‘Galing Pook’ award in 2010,” he said.

The Province of Misamis Oriental was the recipient of the “Galing Pook” awards in 2010 and 2011, in recognition of its various initiatives on disaster response, environmental management, improving health services, boosting agricultural economy and addressing various needs of the community.
