VARIOUS photos taken during and after the wake of Sendong in Cagayan de Oro and Iligan City were displayed to the public as a photo exhibit contest dubbed “Glimpse of Hope” was opened at SM City Cagayan de Oro on Sunday.
Rhea Marigomen, officer-in-charge of Jatico Events, said the “photo contest for a cause” is open to all enthusiasts, professionals and students.

Marigomen said the photo should be submitted in 8R size with a four-word “catchy” title along with the photographer’s name and contact number.
“The photo should show hope,” she said.
The contest will run for 27 days, starting from January 30 until February 25.
Marigomen said the photos must be taken during and after Tropical Storm Sendong using either digital single-lens reflex (DSLR), point-and-shoot, mobile phone cameras or film-type camera in black and white or colored.
The awarding ceremony is set on February 25.
Marigomen said all proceeds of the contest will be given to the Philippine Red Cross (PRC).
“I urge the public who has photos to join the contest and show it for the public to be encouraged and hopeful despite the calamity,” she said.
Marigomen said they would still accept photos until February 25 around 12 noon.
The criteria for judging will be based on relevance of the theme (50 percent), creativity and technique (30 percent) and originality of concept (20 percent).
Marigomen said a panel of six will judge the photos regularly.
“We will make sure all photo entries will be accommodated and posted for public exposure,” she said.
The winners will receive a DSLR camera for the first prize while the second prize will get P5,000 and P2,500 for the third prize.
At least 20 consolation prizes will also be chosen by Jatico Adventures.
Sunday’s opening was attended by Rhia Rita Abalos of the City Tourism Board who is also the Past District Governor of District 3870 Rotary International; Roger Uy, president of Rotary Club of West Cagayan de Oro; Clifford Roa of PRC and Dale Lagonera, SM City Marketing Head.
Those who are interested to join are advised to submit their entries at Cham’s Convenience Store and SM Mall Exhibit area or call 858-4986, 850-1357.
A requirement of P200 per entry fee is required.
