May 1: Feast of Saint Joseph

AS LABOR Day is celebrated today, people should also know the other significance of May 1, which is the feast of Saint Joseph, the patron saint of workers and a great provider to the people.

Luz Prieto, who belongs to the Order of Carmelite Discalced Secular, said Saint Joseph is the patron of the Universal Church and workers. Prieto said St. Joseph’s feast day is on May 1, which is Labor Day in the Philippines.

She said people should pray to St. Joseph, to ask for his intercession since according to St. Teresa of Avila, “Go to St. Joseph because if you go to him, St. Joseph will never fail your request.”

She said many testimonies will show how through the intercession of St. Joseph, many people’s lives were changed.

“Before, I don’t have a profound knowledge about St. Joseph and I asked the intercession of St. Teresa of Avila, which is the favorite client of St. Joseph, until such time, I came to know Father Nelson Osorio of the Oblates of St. Joseph. Since then, I fell in love with St. Joseph and discovered how a ‘great provider’ he is,” Prieto said.

She said many people have already engaged in devotion and promotion of Mama Mary but few have engaged for St. Joseph.

For her, through his intercession, and with the grace of humility, people would know how humble he is, despite being a foster father of Jesus.

Prieto is urging the public to recognize who St. Joseph is and pray and ask for his intercession.

She said people should also use “The Miraculous prayer of St. Joseph for a difficult problem” to pray especially in times of need and problem.

Prieto said the prayer is: “O Glorious St. Joseph, thou has power to render possible things which are impossible, come to our aid in our present trouble and distress. Take this important and difficult affair under thy particular protection that it may end happily. (Mention your request) O dearest St. Joseph, all our confidence is in thee. Let it not be said that we have invoke in Thee in vain; and since Thou art so powerful with Jesus and Mary, show that thy goodness equals thy power. Amen. Divine Providence can provide, Divine Providence will provide, Divine Providence did provide. Amen.”
