LANZONES, a fleshly fruit abundant in the province of Camiguin, is now in season as the province celebrates the annual Lanzones Festival.

The festival commemorates the bountiful harvest of the fruit that is Camiguin’s pride, the luscious “buwahan,” the indigenous name for lanzones.

Every year, the festival is celebrated every third week of October in time for harvest.

The opening of this year’s festival is at 2 p.m. of October 21. The festival will end on October 28.

Various activities and events have been organized to highlight the festival. These include the Mutya sa Buahanan beauty pageant on October 26, inter-agency street dancing competition and the inter-agency ground presentation on October 27.

Interested to visit the beautiful island of Camiguin to take part in the celebration may visit or call the Department of Tourism (DOT)-Northern Mindanao office at the ground floor of the Pelaez Sports Center in Velez St. at (088) 856-4048, (08822) 723-696/726-394 or call the Provincial Tourism Office in Camiguin at (088) 387-1097 local 120.
