The essence of storytelling
-A A +AFriday, March 8, 2013
READING books to children bring them to a world without limits. It gives them a sense of appreciation for words, education and the medium used-books.
In celebration of the World Read Aloud Day 2013, Xavier Ecoville, the Xavier University-led resettlement community for Sendong survivors in Barangay Lumbia, organized a storytelling session for over 70 children aged three to six.
The Xavier Ecoville staff gave a brief introduction about the World Read Aloud Day, following it with an action song to jumpstart the activity.
Small groups were formed according to the children’s ages. The storytellers prepared books and props appropriate for the children’s level of comprehension.
This activity aimed to promote literacy and book appreciation among the Xavier Ecoville children. (Xyla Mercedita E. Gualberto/Contributor)
