Official logo for Kagay – an Festival 2014 launched

THE local government of Cagayan de Oro city has started its preparations for the city fiesta on August 28, 2014 in honor of St. Augustine, the city’s patron saint.

Earlier this week, the official logo of Higalaay: Kagay – an Festival 2014 was revealed to the public at SM City Cagayan de Oro which signifies the start of the city’s most awaited celebration.

Words in wiggly fonts formed into humans in vibrant colors symbolize the people of CdeO: friendly, hospitable and buoyant.

Higalaay as a theme for the Kagay – an Festival representing the time of the year where Kagay – anons seek out and make friends, enjoy various activities to meet other people.

“I think the colors are welcoming, fun, vibrant, and positive which matches the vibe I always receive from the people of Cagayan de Oro and continue to ?be? the reason I have fallen in love with this city,” says Kyle Douglas Jennermann, 26, a Candian who has recently become popular for wanting to become a Filipino.

“If I recall any festival I have been to in the Philippines is what it’s all about. Welcoming others as friends even if you don't know them and sharing happiness with them,” he added and afterward said “APIR” which means high – five in English, he’s recently found out and a new favorite bisaya expression.

Kyle Jennermann is a native of Comox, British Columbia. In his blog www.becomingfilipino.com, he has voiced his love for the Philippines.

“Comox is where I’m from, but Cagayan de Oro is my home now,” Kyle said in an interview with one of the country’s dailies.

Malvern Esparcia, a radio personality and owner of Jampakk Music Bar and Grill, thinks that he connects to the logo at a personal level.
“I love it. Very colorful and since I am a happy person, it suits my personality. Para nako ang logo dili kailangan nga naa tanan products like what we usually do. It bombards the logo with various ideas and the outcome is too much ug walay coherence. However, this logo simply says na ang mga cdo pipz are happy people and if you are in CdO you will definitely be happy.”

Esparcia is a local celebrity who is popularly known as “Bernie Bitok – Bitok” of ABS – CBN Northern Mindanao.

With the logo now unveiled, activities lining up to the city’s upcoming festival is sure to hype up the month of August.
