BARANGAY Gusa, under the leadership of its Chairman Enrico D. Salcedo, once again earned its mark as one of the multi-awarded barangays in Cagayan de Oro City.

Barangay Gusa bagged second runner-up in the Highly Urbanized Cities category in the 2008 Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Award (LTIA).

This is a glorious feat for the lupong tagapamayapa of Barangay Gusa as it was the first time the local government unit (LGU) joined the LTIA and was then immediately an awardee by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Chairman Salcedo, together with its lupon members, lupon secretary, and other barangay officials and functionaries, will be joined by City Mayor Constantino G. Jaraula and DILG-Northern Mindanao Regional Director Loreto T. Bhagwani in receiving the award at Rizal Hall, Malacañang on July 30, 2009.

Also joining to give support to the group during the awarding ceremonies are DILG City Director Emil T. Rana and Nahum Colocar, LTIA Project Officer of DILG.

Director Bhagwani is very proud of this achievement accorded to barangay Gusa.

He wished that the lupons will continually do its utmost best to become effective local arbiters in barangay mediation and help preserve peace and order in their communities.

LTIA is an awards program by the Department that aims to grant incentives to the lupons or pangkat members who adequately demonstrate its abilities to judiciously and expeditiously resolve cases amicably referred to the group. (Press release)
