Oro’s Saint Squad Dancers off for ‘Show Time’-A A +A

“THIS is your show. This is your time. It’s…Show Time!”
Local folks must be proud of them… The 17-member self-claimed locally-developed Saint Squad Dancers will perform before highly-recognized judges in ABS-CBN’s “Show Time” in Manila soon.
Richard Subang, 20, and Akira Rosal, 18, member-dancers of the reigning “Show Time,” visited Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro the other day soliciting financial assistance to fund their 20-member delegation off to the hot stage.
“We’re very excited to perform at Show Time,” said the two who were surrounded by curious staff writers inside the Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro office.
They said Cagayan de Oro’s name will be highlighted when the group’s turn is called during the competition.
Saint Squad Dancers were selected by scouting “Show Time” crew during the provincial audition early this year at the ABS-CBN compound in Brgy. Bulua. The group topped the 30-group audition.
The two said they will be performing surprisingly unique dance choreography by their own designed moves.
At “Show Time,” performers are welcome to do free-style kind of dancing at their own interpretations.
Saint Squad Dancers have been performing at the Night Café in Cagayan de Oro. They can be caught break dancing in Divisoria where flocks of spectators are watching.
The two said they also do guestings when requested at malls and house parties. They also join different dance contests.
The two members said it took them several grand awards, including the SM-organized free style dancing contest, before being included in the list of high-caliber dancers by “Show Time.”
“It took us even seven months to prepare for the contest in Show Time,” the two said while showing their performance at ABS-CBN over Facebook.
As of Thursday afternoon, the two said they were able to gather around P10,000 as financial assistance from Mayor Vicente Emano during their office by office and house to house solicitations.
“We need to hurry now. We have to gather more money to fund our delegation. We also welcome donations from residents in Cagayan de Oro if they wish to help us fly or ship us back-and-forth,” the two said.
