SM CITY Cagayan de Oro never fails to amaze thousands of Kagay-anons and tourists as it showed off a spectacular Pyro Festival on Friday at the Las Ramblas parking area.
Now on its third year, the Pyro Festival drew in at least seven participants from different areas in the country.
The annual Pyro Festival has now become one of the highlights of the city’s fiesta celebration on August 28.
This year, the participants who showed off their amazing 30-minute fireworks came from Manila, Bulacan, Dumaguete, Cebu, Iligan City, Bohol and Cagayan de Oro.
Dumaguete was adjudged as the champion with its impressive fireworks display and took home P80,000 cash while Bulacan’s spectacular choice of fireworks earned it the first runner up spot with P60,000 cash prize.
Iligan City wouldn’t want to be left behind as it grabbed the second runner up spot with P40,000 as cash prize.
During the fireworks display, persons with disabilities, senior citizens and important personalities in the city were given a “VIP” treatment as they watched the sky lit with colors at the roof deck of SM City.
After the event, SM City held a midnight sale that enticed spectators to stay a little longer.
Ms. Ivy Guantero, press relations officer of SM City, said SM always finds ways to make their clients satisfied with their service as she hoped for another year of spectacular fireworks display. (Nicole J. Managbanag)
