DXIM Radyo ng Bayan, one of the pioneer radio stations in the city located along Velez St., will definitely stay longer to serve its listeners with the blessing of its newly renovated building on Saturday, graced by Communications Operations Office Chief Secretary Sonny Coloma as one of the invited guests.

The ever-supportive Coloma earlier approved an approximate budget of P7.6 million for the facelift of the building and for the acquisition of the radio station’s new state-of-the-art equipment.

The newly renovated modern building boasts of a posh interior and even a pocket garden, which adds up to its elegance.

“Through the initiative of Cagayan de Oro Representative Rufus Rodriguez (2nd district), I was able to allocate funds for the renovation of the building,” Coloma said.

Rodriguez was on hand to witness the blessing.

DXIM Radyo ng Bayan, as one of the government's flagship radio stations, serves as a medium of development communication, a conduit between the government and the people that aims to mobilize all sectors of society towards development and nationalism.

After more than 30 years of providing public service, DXIM is now considered as one of the pillars of broadcast media in the city.

Coloma said aside from DXIM, funds have also been allocated for the renovation of other government radio stations.

Ditas Gualberto, station manager of DXIM, said the office is very much improved.

“Now, we even have direct satellite connected to 16 computers in our office and we have even put up another module that can reach as far as Camarines Sur in the Bicol region,” Gualberto said.

Coloma said they have already negotiated with the owner of the building for it to be fully acquired by the government.

Saturday’s blessing was also graced by Vice Mayor Caesar Ian Acenas, Misamis Oriental Vice Governor Norris Babierra and other local government officials.
