TRUE to its name, the Home Mutual Development Fund (Pag-IBIG Fund) will hold a mass wedding today, February 14, at SM City Cagayan de Oro. At least 185 couples will join today’s mass wedding.
Juliano S. Banghal, Pag-IBIG Cagayan de Oro Branch Manager, said the program is part of their official Pag-IBIG Day, which is to sponsor a mass wedding to those who can’t afford, especially those victims of typhoon Sendong.

Banghal said they offered those who are not married to shoulder their documentations at the National Statistics Office (NSO), civil registry office and for the judge who will conduct the wedding ceremony.
Judge Evelyn Neri of the Hall of Justice will officiate the mass wedding.
“Everything is free,” Banghal said.
He said their requirement for the couple to avail of the free wedding is that one of the couple should be a member of Pag-IBIG.
However, he said, they encouraged those non-members to become members to avail of the free wedding.
“We let the non-members to become members because the Pag-IBIG fund’s coverage is universal that it even includes helpers or maids as members,” Banghal said.
He claimed that the mass wedding is their first affair through the initiative of Pag-IBIG Fund’s chief executive office attorney Darlene Marie B. Berberabe.
“Hopefully, this will be an annual activity,” he said, citing the management’s plan to conduct a mass wedding every year nationwide in cooperation with SM chain of malls.
