4ID awards winner of Rifle Squad Challenge tilt

THE 4th Infantry “Diamond” Division awarded 8th Infantry “Dependable” Battalion as the winner of the 4ID’s Rifle Squad Challenge Competition 2012 at Camp Evangelista recently.
The 8th Infantry “Dependable” Battalion emerged as the ultimate winner of the competition, held on February 10 to 11, after topping the Individual Readiness Phase and Formation and Movement Techniques Phase. Its overall score is 873.37 points out of the total 1,000 points allotted for the whole competition.

The 26th Infantry Battalion scored 867.38 points while the 29th Infantry Battalion scored 849.25, who ranked second and third placers, respectively.
The competition has shown the serious preparation and support of the participants and their respective units.
Every team gave its best, making the competition a success and a well-deserved victory for the 8th Infantry Battalion.
“I am happy of the outcome of the competition. Every squad fights hard to win though we know that in a competition, only one will emerge as a winner. Your soldiers’ discipline showed throughout the competition is a sign that we have not failed the expectation of our people. To the 8th Infantry Battalion, continue what you have started, and for others, practice and strive more,” said Major General Victor A. Felix AFP, 4ID commander.
Major Eugenio Julio C. Osias IV, commanding Office of the 4th Civil-Military Operations Battalion, said excellence must be the way of life of the soldiers since slight mistake might cost lost of lives in real battle scenarios.
“This competition not only tests the competence of your soldier but also their discipline, which is their bread and butter in the profession of arms. A competent and disciplined soldier means a better Philippine Army,” Osias said. (PR)
