Mindanao artists join art exhibit for Sendong victims

MEMBERS of Batang Pinoy Artists (BPA) joined a special benefit art exhibition last January 25 to 28 at the Kalayaan Hall in Malacañang.
The exhibit, dubbed “Art for A Cause,” is intended for the victims of Tropical Storm “Sendong” in Mindanao.
The exhibit was organized by Resurreccion Museum and Juan Luna’s relatives and descendants.
The BPA members include Allan F. Malalis, Caryl S. Labastida, Pablito Abasolo, Alice Demecillo, Gio Choa, Emily Roa, Susy Calinga, Ian Neil Lalimos, Marieta D. Montecillo, Juliana R. Abelador and Paquito V. Cariño.
On February 10, Malalis and the other BPA members visited the Philippine Consulate General in Toronto and on February 17, they also visited the Philippine Consulate General in Montreal.
On February 24, the group had a brief stopover at the Art Depot in Montreal and interacted with Canada-based Filipino artists Peping Trinidad, Sym Mendoza and Jae T. Dougal.
Malalis, chairperson of BPA for Mindanao, has been promoting Misamis arts and culture in his paintings and has last done two documentary films of Cagayan de Oro for showing abroad. (PR)
