KNOWING a person fully is attained by constant communication with the other. Familiarity sets in and a bond of union is established through this knowledge. A relationship begins to exist between two persons who know each other’s character. Acceptance of the person regardless of one’s weakness ensues.

So it is with our relationship with God. Such intimacy with Christ is seen in the life of Venerable Ignacia del Espiritu Santo. With this intimacy with Christ, her love of God is being nourished and enables her to bloom in the Lord’s divine vineyard. Her capacity to reach out to others manifests itself in action. Her words and deeds are kind to those she encounters in the service to His Divine Majesty.

Beautifully unfolded in the writings of S. Maria Anicia Co, RVM is this intimacy with Christ of Venerable Ignacia in the following paragraph. “The experience of intimacy with Christ was the foundation of the beaterio community. It was the source of their love and friendship. The beatas shared their joys and pains, tears and laughter. They experienced failures and reconciliations, hurts and forgiveness. The love of Christ was the bond that united the community.”

Truly, Mother Ignacia’s intimacy with Christ has proven to bring peace in community. No competition. No complaints. Instead there was acceptance among the beatas with Venerable Ignacia leading them. With this intimacy with Christ, Mother Ignacia and her beatas remain unperturbed in the face of any adversity. As the writer goes further, she says: “In their solidarity with one another, the beatas also realized their call to share in Christ’s mission.

Their growing knowledge of Jesus Christ impelled them to reach out to others and help them also grow in faith and commitment. They shared the fruits of their life of faith, education of young girls and retreat work for women. They also provided a space where women could stay in solitude and recollection. With them they shared the spirit of the beaterio community.”

Wonderful indeed is VENERABLE Ignacia’ intimacy with Christ! Derived from this intimacy with Christ, she exudes unwittingly her keen perception and discernment leading to sound judgment in her decisions. She is able to imbibe her beatas with this attitude through her kind words without pressuring them. Peace reigns supreme in Mother Ignacia’sbeaterio because she is able to show in her actions the innermost stirring of her heart aptly evoking emulation from her beatas. Such is the marvel of this intimacy with Christ which is one of the elements of the legacy she left to her followers in the Congregations of the Religious of the Virgin Mary.

Commune With God – from the Heart of Mother Mary Divine Will Recipes… for your Soul Calendar 2002

God’s Life in creatures, His Love,
His Gifts, his Glories are stifled by the human will.

In order for the fullness of God’s will
To be free to dwell in creatures,
they must meet God
in His living temple, the soul.

Learn to commune there.
Take quiet moments to feel the presence of God in you.

And then share with Him the Love that you have for Him,
The desire that you have to be of one will with Him,
The gratitude that you feel toward Him for His most treasured Gift,

His Divine Will.
