Batang Mindanao gang member shot dead

A MEMBER of the dreaded "Batang Mindanao" (BM 29) gang was killed after he was shot by two unidentified suspects along Hayes-Osmeña Street in Cagayan de Oro City on Tuesday dawn.

Operatives of Carmen Police Station identified the victim as Junrey Gamaya Bacan, 26, single, a resident of 20/21 St. Upper Nazareth.

Bacan sustained multiple gunshot wounds in different parts of his body.


Initial investigation showed that Bacan was shot by one of two unidentified suspects on board a red Honda XRM motorcycle. Recovered from the crime scene were six empty shells and one slug of caliber .45 pistol.

Based on police records, Bacan was a known character in the city.

Witnesses told police operatives that the suspects wore black jackets and handkerchief masks.

They said the gunman was also wearing a yellow bull cap while the driver of the motorcycle was wearing a black bull cap.

The case is now under investigation by the Scene of the Crime Operatives.
