REPRESENTATIVE Jose Benjamin “Benjo” Benaldo (1st district, Cagayan de Oro) led the inauguration of Bayanga National High School in Barangay Bayanga Friday last week.
The four-classroom, two-storey building is complete with teacher’s office and four comfort rooms, the funding of which was taken from Benaldo’s congressional fund granted by Congress as a bonus, being the majority floor leader.
The inauguration was attended by Department of Public Works and Highways-Northern Mindanao director Norma Geronilla and Benaldo's chief of staf Christopher Chiamsay.
Benaldo said the school was established in Bayanga after the local government unit filed a resolution for the establishment of a national high school in the area.
“To start the new national high school with four classrooms, one for each level, in the said barangay will be a stepping stone for the students to achieve their dreams. They would no longer travel to other barangays just to study,” he said.
After the school’s inauguration and blessing, Benaldo flew to Manila to take care of the bill he filed to make the school an official national high school.
The lawmaker, being an advocate for education, has acquired more than 15 classrooms from Congress to be widely distributed in the hinterland barangays of the first district. (Nicole J. Managbanag)
