THE Cagayan de Oro College-Phinma Education Network administration purchased a 2,500-square meter lot in Barangay Puerto.
The purchase was officially sealed through a contract signing on Friday between the school and the lot’s owner, Edwin Salazar.
The contract signing was headed by COC-Phinma President Dr. Chito Salazar, along with chief operations officer Engr. Raymundo P. Reyes and Chief Marketing officer Eric Y. Barro.
COC-Phinma began to cater to students from the eastern side of the city such as barangays Cugman to Bugo including the municipalities of Misamis Oriental and other parts of Bukidnon.
Salazar said the COC-Puerto campus is a first step in making education accessible to all.
“After achieving our goal of providing quality and affordable education in Carmen and its surrounding communities, it is time to extend this to more students, particularly in Barangay Puerto and the neighboring barangays in Misamis Oriental and Bukidnon,” Salazar said.
He said by bringing the school nearer to the students, transportation costs will be lowered, and that students don’t need to stay in boarding houses.
“Our goal is to make the dreams of our students and their families come true,” he said.
Currently, in its first phase of construction, the satellite campus can cater up to 1,500 students on its first year.
Salazar said it can eventually accommodate up to 4,000 students once the campus is finished.
The COC-Puerto campus boasts of complete facilities including computer rooms, library and other multi-purpose centers, laboratories for Science, Hotel and Restaurant Management (HRM) and Criminology.
The school will offer courses from the College of Management and Accountancy, Criminology, Education, Graduate School and Basic Education courses.
