Education department to hold summit-A A +A

THE Department of Education (DepEd) in Northern Mindanao will be conducting the Education Summit 2011 on December 20 to 21 with the theme “Building Educational Excellence for Region X in Challenging Times.”
To be held at the Capitol University Gymnatorium and the Pelaez Sports Center, the summit aims to strengthen the teachers’ skills in improving economic productivity, food sufficiency and family food security.
The summit also aims to build networks and collaborations among stakeholders and foster professional learning community between and among major stakeholders in education.
Prior to the summit proper, a ceremonial ribbon cutting for the Agro-Trade Fair was held on December 19.
Activities lined up during the opening day include motorcade around the city, a Holy Mass at the CU Gymnatorium, management and leadership sessions and recognition and awarding ceremony, among others.
A showcase of musical talents and performing arts skills of teaching and non-teaching personnel of DepEd dubbed “DepEd Rocks 2011” will highlight the first day of summit.
Another showcase of talents and skills will also be held on December 21 such as Christmas Carol Contest, Skills-O-Rama Competition, Sayawit Tawa, Kendeng-Kendeng Contest, Dance Sports Competition and comic presentation of talents.
Expected to participate in the two-day summit are key officials of DepEd-Northern Mindanao, education program supervisors, district supervisors, public school administrators and teachers of both elementary and secondary levels of the 14 divisions of the region, including the Private schools Association.
