DILG distributes Seal of Good Housekeeping markers

THE Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) has distributed twenty glass markers of Seal of Good Housekeeping (SGH) to the municipal mayors in recognition of their respective local government units (LGUs) as SGH awardees in advancing the principles of accountability and transparency in local governance.

The solid markers, signed by DILG Secretary Jesse M. Robredo, were given during Monday’s convocation program at DILG-Northern Mindanao Region office.

Present to receive the markers were the mayors in the province of Bukidnon -- Mayor Romeo P. Tiongco of Damulog town and Mayor Rey B. Baula of Sumilao; and from the province of Lanao del Norte -- Mayor Jaber M. Azis of Matungao town, Mayor Noel N. Deaño of Linamon and Mayor Bertrand M. Lumaque Sr. of Kolambugan.

Also present to accept the markers were from the province of Misamis Occidental -- Mayor Estela O. Estaño of Tudela, Mayor David M. Navarro of Clarin, Vice-Mayor Jesus C. Enerio of Calamba, Mayor Martin C. Migriño of Lopez Jaena and Mayor Samson R. Dumanjug of Bonifacio town; and from the province of Misamis Oriental -- Mayor Alvin Giovanni A. Labis of Alubijid, Mayor Joecel Q. Tiu of Libertad, Mayor Jaime C. Roa of Naawan, Mayor Rodolfo O. Buray of Gitagum and Mayor Oliver L. Ubaub of Laguindingan.

Other LGUs sent in their representatives such as those form from Mahinog town in Camiguin, Magsaysay in Lanao del Norte, Aloran and Tangub City in Misamis Occidental, and Sugbongcogon in Misamis Oriental.

Unable to personally receive the markers are those from Munai and Kauswagan towns in Lanao del Norte and Don Victoriano in Misamis Occidental.

The said LGUs were the first round awardees of SGH for 2011, under the 4th to 6th class cities and municipalities category.

The awarding of SGH was held last August 19, 2011 but it was only now that the SGH markers were accorded to the LGUs due to problems with logistics.
