Cops nab 2 ‘drug dealers’

OPERATIVES of the Regional Special Operations Group (RSOG) arrested two suspected illegal drug dealers in two separate operations in Barangay Gusa and Barangay 29 in Cagayan de Oro City.

RSOG Chief Rustico R. Galagala Jr. identified the suspects as Elwin O. Barquil, 27, a resident of Aquarius Street, Phase 1 Villa Ernesto Subdivision in Barangay Gusa, and Mark Anthony Q. Mabolo, 29, of Purok 1, Baloy in Barangay Tablon.

Police confiscated two teabags of marijuana and two sachets of shabu from the suspects.

Barquil reportedly tried to resist arrest and hit a police officer with a steel pipe, causing commotion in the area. However, Galagala said the suspect later submitted to the cops.

The operation was conducted Monday morning after police received information that illegal drugs trade and pot session were ongoing along Phase 1 Villa Ernesto Subdivision in Barangay Gusa.

Mabolo, on the other hand, was arrested Tuesday dawn after two sachets of shabu were confiscated from his possession during an entrapment operation in Luna Street, Barangay 29.

Mabolo has a pending case for violation of Section 11 of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Act of 2002.

The two suspects are now temporarily detained at the Maharlika Detention cell pending their transfer to Lumbia City Jail while appropriate charges have already been filed against them.
