THE Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) has come out with a new policy on benefits that would reportedly include outpatients who are employed or are individually paying members.
Marlon S. Arrabaca, PhilHealth Regional Membership and Marketing head, said employed or individually paying members can avail of the benefits hopefully by June this year.
Outpatient benefits are those that can be availed by PhilHealth members even if they are not admitted in the hospital.
Arrabaca said the services that would be probably covered by the outpatient benefits include complete blood count (CBC), blood pressure checking or any check-up that is normally done in a clinic.
“There will be a fix amount allocated for the outpatient benefits,” he said.
Arrabaca said the memorandum or circular about this is still currently being crafted.
At present, outpatient benefits can only be availed by PhilHealth members who are enrolled under the indigent program.
Under the primary health care benefit, a member can get a treatment pack per month for a medical prescription constituting around P400 worth of antibiotics and medicines for diabetes and hypertension and another P500 as allocation for consultation.
