KAGAY-ANON Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III recently filed a resolution commending the topnotchers in the 2011 Bar examination who have reportedly “achieved their aspirations through their excellent performance.”
Pimentel said the topnotchers have served as models for the Filipino youth in the promotion of culture of excellence in the country.
“By recognizing the achievements of our Bar examination topnotchers for the year 2011, we help in the promotion of a culture of excellence in our country by giving credit and honor,” he said in a statement.
The Bar examination is the government licensure examination for lawyers under the direction and supervision of the Supreme Court.
Pimentel said he was satisfied with the result of the 2011 Bar exams, which was released on February 29.
Out of the 5,990 examinees, 1,913 passed, with a 31.95 passing percentage.
The topnotchers include Raoul Angelo Atadero (Ateneo de Manila University, 1st); Luz Bolong (Ateneo de Manila University, 2nd); Cherry Liez Rafal-Roble (Arellano University, 3rd); Rosemil Bañaga (Notre Dame of Cotabato City, 4th); Christian Louie Gonzales (University of Santo Tomas, 5th); Ivan Bandal (Silliman University, 6th); Irene Acosta (San Beda College, 7th); Irene Cua (Ateneo de Manila University, 8th); Elaine Laceda (De La Salle University Far Eastern University MBA-JD, 9th); and Rodolfo Aquino (San Beda College, 10th).
“The heroic efforts of these topnotchers can serve as inspiration not only to law students but to the entire youth and student population of our country, on how to achieve their aspirations through hard work, dedication and excellence,” Pimentel said.
He said one key to sustain national progress is for the government to nurture and inculcate a culture of excellence among the youth based on the 1987 Constitution, emphasizing that the “State shall give priority to education, science and technology, arts, culture and sports to foster patriotism and nationalism, accelerate social progress and promote total human liberation and development.”
Pimentel said these topnotchers should be congratulated and commended by the Senate for a job well done. (Nicole J. Managbanag)
