Drug bureau nabs ‘illegal drugs dealer’

OPERATIVES of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested an alleged dealer of illegal drugs during a buy-bust operation in Balingoan town, Misamis Oriental on Tuesday evening.
Roberto S. Opeña, PDEA regional director, identified the suspect as Angelito O. Marto alias “Taloy,” 31, a resident of Sitio Talisay, Barangay Bauk-Bauk in Balingoan town.
Opeña said Marto, an alleged runner of illegal gambling “suertres,” is considered as a watch-listed drug personality in Balingoan.
Marto was apprehended by PDEA’s Misamis Oriental Provincial Special Enforcement Team (PSET) led by Investigation Officer 2 Vincent Cecil Orcales.
Bought from Marto were two sachets containing shabu (methamphetamine) worth P1,000 by a PDEA undercover agent who acted as poseur-buyer.
Also recovered from his possession were four packs of plastic sachets containing shabu and several illegal gambling paraphernalia, which were later turned over to the Balingoan Municipal Police Station.
Opeña said the suspect is now temporarily detained at the PDEA Detention facility for booking and documentation while, the confiscated drug items were brought to the Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory for comprehensive examination.
Marto faces charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
