A SUSPECTED illegal drug trader was arrested by the police during an entrapment operation along J.R. Borja-Rizal Streets in Cagayan de Oro on Tuesday afternoon.
Police Inspector Patrick Jess P. Paguirigan, chief of Regional Anti-Illegal Drug Special Operation Task Group (RAIDSOTG) and Regional Special Operations Group (RSOG), identified the suspect as Gilbert O. Uyguangco, 33, a native of Medina town in Misamis Oriental and currently residing at Justo Ramonal St. in Cagayan de Oro.
Paguirigan said the suspect is considered as a watch-listed drug personality of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
He said Uyguangco was arrested after he was about to deliver the illegal drugs to his would-be customer in the area.
During his arrest, police recovered four sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P8,000 from the suspect’s possession.
Uyguangco is now detained at the Maharlika Detention Cell.
However, in a radio interview, Uyguangco denied being an illegal drug pusher but admitted he is just a “user.”
Police records showed that Uyguangco is allegedly involved and connected with a drug syndicate group operating particularly in Sto. Niño, Barangay 31, which is considered as one of the “hot spot” areas of illegal drug sale in Cagayan de Oro.
Uyguangco faces charges for violation of Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The seized evidences were brought to the Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory for examination. (ALR)
