THE Philippine National Police (PNP) kicked off the 17th Police Community Relations Month on Monday at Camp Alagar in Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro, which was highlighted by the awarding of medals to police offices in the region, police personnel and civilians.

This month’s celebration is anchored on the theme “Mamamayan at Kapulisan: Patuloy ang Ugnayan sa Higit na Ligtas, Mapayapa at Maunlad na Pamayanan.”

The activity also marked another milestone when the Police Regional Office (PRO) - Northern Mindanao command invited Councilor Ian Mark Nacaya as guest of honor and speaker for the occasion.

Nacaya, chairperson of the City Council’s committee on police, fire and public safety, awed PRO with his speech that elaborated the importance of police work and community relations in society.

“While we are in the service, let us uphold not only the oath we have taken. Our service must be towards the end, in the service of the people,” Nacaya said.

Highlighting the activity was the awarding of medals to various police offices in the region for being adjudged as best police community relations.

Police Chief Superintendent Jufel Adriatico, PNP-Northern Mindanao director, presented the awards assisted by Nacaya.

The awardees include the Misamis Oriental Provincial Police Office, Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo), Ozamis City Police Station/Misamis Occidental Provincial Police Office and Jasaan Municipal Police Station/Misamis Oriental Provincial Police Office for the unit awards category.
