Airmen awards heroes in 27th anniversary

THE Tactical Operations Group (TOG) based at the Lumbia Airport celebrated its 27th founding anniversary recently by honoring its personnel who have served the Philippine Air Force (PAF).
The event was graced by Major General Jose Tony Villarete, Armed Forces of the Philippines Commander 3rd Air Division.
Villarete awarded personnel and some civilian who supported TOG in its various programs who have contributed to the improvement and welfare of PAF.
Airman 1st Class Al-Zahle S. Ahmad received the award “Airman of the Year” while S/Sgt Roger B. Ramos was awarded as non-commissioned officer of the year.
A Bronze Cross Medal was also awarded to S/Sgt Mariano C. Ansin Jr., S/Sgt Joselito V. Layog, Sgt. Arnel V. Caballero, Airman 1st Class Ranillo B. Condeza and Airman 2nd Class John Gibson O. Gumapo for their acts of heroism during the conduct of search and rescue operations in the flooded areas of Cagayan de Oro last December 16 and 17, 2011, at the height of Tropical Storm ‘Sendong’ where a total of 500 individuals trapped in their houses were rescued and three lifeless victims were recovered despite the high level of floodwater.
Plaques of recognition were also given to TOG’s partners that include the 4th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Department of Health (DOH), Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), Philippine Red Cross, City Health Office, Philippine Dental Association Cagayan de Oro-Misamis Oriental Chapter, Nestle Phils. Inc., Del Monte Phils. Inc., Armed Forces and Police Savings and Loan Association Inc. (AFPSLAI), ACDI, Philippine Red Cross Cagayan de Oro-Misamis Oriental Chapter, National Commission on Indigenous Peoples and other partners.
The 4ID’s plaque of recognition was personally received by its commanding general, Maj. General Victor A. Felix.
