THE Cagayan de Oro City Government will pay tribute to former Mayor Justiniano Borja today, Friday, in commemoration of his centennial birth year.
The activity will start with a commemorative flag raising ceremony at the Divisoria plaza to be led by Mayor Vicente Emano along with City Hall officials and employees.
“The city has been reaping the fruits of what Borja did, the improbable public servant who lead us towards development, and it is only right that the City Government and Kagay-anons pay tribute to him,” Emano said.
In the afternoon, a memorial symposium on the life and work of Borja and the awarding of the 2012 Most Outstanding Public School Teacher (MOPSTA) will be held at the City Tourism Hall to highlight the Life a Project of the Rotary Club of West Cagayan de Oro and the Gigi V. Borja Endowment fund.
Members and officials of the Rotary club of West and some prominent individuals will join in the afternoon affair.
The Borja family; Cecilia Borja-Chiongbian, Christine Borja-Sagarbarria and Justice Romulo V. Borja, will also grace the affair. (Nicole J. Managbanag)
