INVESTIGATORS are eyeing illegal drug trade as the main motive in the killing of a man Sunday night in Santa Cruz, Tagoloan town, Misamis Oriental.
Senior Police Officer 3 Tawide Galleon of Tagoloan Municipal Police Station told Sun.Star that Rolly Cabaluna, 34, a resident of Zone 1, Sta. Cruz, Tagoloan was killed by two men armed with caliber .45 caliber who wore bonnets.
Police recovered five empty shells of caliber .45 at the crime scene.
Police initial investigation showed that the victim jumped from the window of his house upon sensing the arrival of the two men and ran to a neighbor’s house to hide.
However, the gunmen reportedly chased him even entering the house of the neighbor. They later shot Cabaluna inside the house, which was witnessed by his neighbor.
Police said the victim’s neighbor was not harmed. The suspects later fled onboard a motorcycle.
“We are eyeing illegal drugs as motive although this has still to be verified,” Galleon said. (Annabelle L. Ricalde)
