DEFEATED mayoralty candidate Rolando Uy can’t seem to contain his happiness after Misamis Oriental Governor Oscar Moreno officially announced on Monday his intention to run as mayor of Cagayan de Oro in the 2013 elections.
Uy, who lost to incumbent Mayor Vicente Emano in the 2010 elections, said Kagay-anons can now decide who to support now that Moreno has already announced his political plans.
“At last, Governor Moreno has formally announced to the public that he will run. I am very happy as well as the people of the city,” said Uy, the incumbent village chief of Carmen.
On Monday, Moreno officially announced his plan during his last State of the Province Address (Sopa).
City Councilor Roger Abaday also said that Cagayan de Oro has been longing for a good leader and good governance through Moreno’s leadership.
“It is very enlivening, especially among us who have been deprived of true service,” he said.
Moreno’s son, Lawyer Oscar Moreno Jr., also said he is happy for his father and that everyone in the family support his decision to run as mayor of Cagayan de Oro.
“We will stand by him and support our father. We wish him good luck,” the younger Moreno said.
