TWO wanted persons in Cagayan de Oro were arrested Wednesday night by operatives of the Regional Special Operations Group (RSOG) in San Roque, Barangay Lapasan.
Suspects Christopher Beniga, 24, and Jemar Siglos, 29, all residents of San Roque in Barangay Lapasan, attempted to evade arrest upon sensing the arrival of police but failed after they were snagged by RSOG personnel.
Police Inspector Patrick Jess P. Paguirigan, RSOG chief, told Sun.Star that the arrest of Beniga and Siglos was made with the strength of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Emmanuel Pasal of the Regional Trial Court Branch 38 in Cagayan de Oro City for attempted murder.
Pasal recommended a bail bond of P120,000 for both Beniga and Siglos for their temporary liberty.
Paguirigan said the two suspects were hiding in different areas of Mindanao until their arrest on Wednesday at around 9 p.m.
Court record shows that sometime in December 25, 2011, the two suspects allegedly mauled and stabbed a certain Gelio Gonzaga of San Roque, Lapasan with a broken bottle. The victim was hit in the neck.
Beniga and Siglos reportedly fled after the incident and went into hiding.
The suspects are now temporarily detained at the Maharlika Detention Center pending their transfer to the Lumbia Rehabilitation Center. (Annabelle L. Ricalde)
