AT LEAST P400,000 worth of property was destroyed in two different fire incidents that occurred on Saturday dawn in Cagayan de Oro City.
Senior Fire Officer 2 Victor Naïve, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) arson investigator, said the first fire broke at the kitchen of the late Judge Noli Catli at 31st Street Barangay Nazareth around 4:20 a.m. of the day.
Fortunately, only the kitchen and the extension small warehouse were burned because they were separated from the house itself, said Naïve.
Fire investigator said P100,000 worth of property was destroyed.
After a few minutes, another fire incident occurred along Fernandez Street in Barangay 1 near St. Augustine Cathedral, particularly at the two-storey residential house of Edgar Dacoco, the basketball coach of Sacred Heart and STI College.
The fire, according to arson investigator, also destroyed the house of Jinggoy Banquerigo, who is also a basketball coach.
Naïve said the fire started at the second floor of Dacoco’s house around 5:20 a.m. Estimated destroyed properties were placed to P300,000.
“Both cases are still under investigation and we still cannot establish the cause,” Naïve added. (Annabelle L. Ricalde)
