POLICE authorities are eyeing hatred as the motive in the brutal killing of a nurse and the wounding of his live-in partner last Friday night in Barangay Camaman-an, Cagayan de Oro.
Police Senior Inspector Elmer Robas, station commander of Cogon Police Station, told Sun.Star that “hate crime” might be the primary motive and robbery is only secondary.
Robas identified the suspects as Gabby, 17; and Armand, 16, both residents of Abulijid town in Misamis Oriental.
The police are also set to arrest Vincent, the elder brother of the suspects also from Abulijid town in Misamis Oriental.
Gabby and Armand worked as househelpers of victims Mark Casiño and his live-in partner Elsie Capapas while Vincent was reportedly a constant visitor at the couple’s house.
Casiño, head nurse at the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC), and Capapas were found bloody inside their house in Barangay Camaman-an Friday night.
Casiño later died from multiple stab wounds in different parts of his body while Capapas, 52, is now recuperating in a hospital.
Investigators is yet to get the statement of Capapas pending the filing of charges against the suspects.
It was learned that Gabby and Armand were reportedly terminated by the couple after the former allegedly committed mistakes.
Before the termination, the victim reportedly sold his motorcycle to Gabby but the payment was made through salary deduction.
However, when the brothers were terminated, the victim reportedly refused to give the motorcycle even if Gabby has already paid more than half of the amount.
“After their termination, Gabby always felt sad. He even had the motorcycle problem blottered at the Bulua Police Station. So there is really hatred on his part for the refusal of the victim to give back the motorcycle,” Robas said.
He added that Gabby even prepared a letter of complaint against the couple addressed to the Tulfo brothers for their TV program.
Gabby and Armand were later arrested but denied the crime.
The brothers’ father, Tommy, told police that if his sons were found guilty of the crime, he would have them jailed.
