A BORN Again pastor in Cagayan de Oro was brutally shot by an unidentified gunman inside a chapel in Zone 12, Barangay Carmen Thursday night.
The pastor was identified as Orlando A. Dalumos, 51, a resident of Zone 12-B Upper Carmen. He succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds on his head and chest and from a 9mm pistol.
Police Inspector Ismael Virgil Gondaya of Carmen Police Station told Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro that Dalumos was shot inside the church by a lone gunman around 8:40p.m.
Authorities recovered four empty shells and two slugs from a 9mm pistol at the crime scene.
According to the victim’s wife, Isabel, the suspect approached her and looked for his husband, saying that he wanted to talk to him to ask for an advice due to a family problem.
Without any doubt, Isabel said she accompanied the gunman inside the church. However, once inside, the gunman immediately shot Dalumos on the chest.
Not contented, the gunman again shot the victim in the head at close range and later fled to an unknown direction.
The eldest son of the victim has tagged one of their neighbors as the mastermind in the killing, reportedly due to a land dispute.
However, Gondaya said the police are still conducting an investigation to identify the suspect and determine the real motive of the killing.
“The suspect has yet to be identified as of this time since it would be hard for us to name names unless we have enough evidence,” he said.
