THE Philippine National Police (PNP) in Northern Mindanao launched Monday the 18th National Crime Prevention Week dubbed “Sa Crime Prevention, May Magagawa Ako!”
PNP Regional Director Police Chief Superintendent Gil J. Hitosis said the celebration aims to encourage the public’s participation and cooperation in the crime effort of the PNP as an effective assurance to minimize crime incidence.
“The community should be more empowered para mas magiging effective ang kapolisan natin sa pagsugpo ng criminality dahil sa tulong ng community,” Hitosis told Sun.Star.
He emphasized that this year’s celebration focuses on strengthening and empowering citizens against crime victimization and enlisting their involvement in government’s crime prevention programs geared towards creating safer communities.
The celebration opened on Monday with a simple activity at the Provincial Capitol grounds with Vice Governor Norris Babiera as the keynote and guest speaker representing Governor Oscar Moreno.
Those who also joined the opening activity include the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) headed by Regional Director Rene Burdeos, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and National Police Commission (Napolcom), among others.
During the event, Napolcom awarded the Police Station 10 in Barangay Cugman with the 2012 Police Excellence Award.
The plaque was awarded to Police Senior Insp. Ernesto Daing, station commander of Police Station 10, along with a set of laptop as the prize of the station.
