Misamis Oriental Guv ready to resign

GOVERNOR Oscar Moreno said he is ready to resign as governor of Misamis Oriental to show his sincerity and pursue his plans of running for mayor in Cagayan de Oro.
Moreno issued the statement in reaction to earlier pronouncements of incumbent Cagayan de Oro Mayor Vicente Emano that he should resign after he announced his plans of running in the mayoralty seat in next year’s mid-term election.
During his radio program over the weekend, Moreno said those who wanted to oppose his candidacy will continue to pursue remedies to discredit him.
“This political move is not going to be easy, especially that the demolition job and the intrigues against me and my family are going on,” he said earlier as he vowed to offer himself to serve the people of Cagayan de Oro.
Moreno, a native of Balingasag in Misamis Oriental, earlier filed for the transfer of his registration records from Misamis Oriental to Cagayan de Oro at the Commission on Election (Comelec) before he publicly announced his intention to run for mayor.
However, several “opposition” filed for a petition against Moreno at the Comelec.
Recently, the Comelec ruled in Moreno’s favor and junked the petition from the opposition.
The Election Registration Board, in its five page decision, approved Moreno’s residency who met the minimum requirement provided by law to be able to transfer his voter registration records.
Moreno said it is Emano who orchestrated the petition filed by the opposition against him.
But Emano denied this and instead tagged Moreno as the one behind the group’s move.
“He just wanted to become the underdog,” the mayor said.
