A SUSPECTED member of “Kawat Krudo gang” died after he was shot by a security guard Monday morning in Cagayan de Oro.
Police Officer 2 Leo Sagun Jr. of Police Station 9 in Macasandig identified the victim as Jayjay B. Chan, 32, a resident of District 5, Manuel Vega in Barangay Consolacion.
Chan succumbed to a gunshot wound at the back from a .38 caliber revolver.
Police identified the security guard as Elvis L. Hencianos, 39, a native of Talusan in Balingasag, Misamis Oriental, but is currently residing at Silver Creek in Zayas, Upper Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City.
Sagun said the shooting incident occurred around 5:10 a.m. in front of a warehouse where Hencianos is detailed located along Velez Extension-Fernandez Sts.
“Matud sa security guard, nakita daw niya nga kamulo og pasuyop sa tangke sa van ang suspek mao nga iyang gisita. Niaksiyon man daw og bunot dayon nidagan ug natapilok. Sa tiil man daw ang iyang puntirya pero natingala siya nga sa likod naigo,” he said.
Sagun said Henciano voluntarily surrendered to the police. He also turned over his service firearm.
Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) chief Senior Superintendent Gerardo M. Rosales confirmed that Chan is allegedly one of the suspected members of “Kawat Krudo gang” whose operations are within the Divisoria area.
“According sa station commander ng Police Station 1 in Divisoria, isa itong si Chan sa mga nagnanakaw ng gasoline sa mga sasakyan na nakaparada, particularly sa Divisoria,” Rosales said.
