FIVE persons suspected of armed robbery, including a minor, were arrested by operatives of Carmen Police Station during a pursuit operation Wednesday night.
Arrested were Marlowe H. Sagun, 37, a resident of NHA Phase I in Barangay Kauswagan; Jobin Tugot, 26, of Piaping Itum in Barangay Macabalan; Walter P. Sangalang, 37, of Zone 1 Punta in Barangay Bonbon; Giovanni Padilla, 34, of Licoan Street; and a 15-year-old minor, a resident of Barangay Carmen.
Senior Police Officer 2 Fernando Laspoña, investigator of the case, said the five suspects allegedly robbed Corazon Turno, 63, a resident of Zone 6 Capisnon in Barangay Kauswagan on Wednesday at around 1:45 p.m.
Laspoña said the suspects grabbed Turno’s shoulder bag containing P8,000 cash, two wedding rings worth P15,000, an ATM, ID and other important documents.
The victim reportedly sustained minor injury in the forehead from a bladed weapon during the incident.
The suspects later fled but were apprehended by police operatives after a pursuit operation.
Laspoña said Sagun admitted the crime reportedly due to financial constraint but Tugot denied his involvement.
“It is their right to deny. They still have accomplices who are at large,” he said.
The five suspects are now temporarily detained at the Maharlika Detention Center and are facing a robbery case.
