TUBOD, Lanao del Norte – Majority of Lanao del Norte’s incumbent local chief executives, including provincial board members and town councilors are now the newest members of the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC).
They pledged allegiance to the party last September 29 at Villa Romana here.
In a simple oath taking ceremony, Governor Mohamad Khalid Dimaporo administered the oath to the latest batch of NPC candidates for next year’s national election.
Dimaporo has been authorized by the national leadership of NPC led by political icon Danding Cojuangco to swear in the new members.
“All of us were consulted on this matter, including the mayors and the municipal councilors. In the end, we decided that it was time to join the NPC,” said Board member Baldomero Zamora.
Aside from Zamora, other incumbent Provincial Board members who took their oath were Grecille Matalines, Casimero Bagul, Mohamad Moamar Jack Maruhom, Benny Baguio, Acmad Cotongan, Marivic Ramos and Tawantawan Cauntongan.
For the town mayors, the latest NPC members in the province are Joselito Miquiabas (Bacolod), Eleuterio Obial Jr. (Baroy), Bertrand Lumaque (Kolambugan), Noel Deaño (Linamon), Jaber Azis (Matungao), Mohammad Exchan Limbona (Pantar), Maminta Dimakuta (Tagoloan), Nelieta Noval (Tubod), Atty. Benjie Baguio (Kapatagan), Allan Lim (Lala), Haironi Omar (Magsaysay), Atty. Abdul Manamparan (Nunungan), Farhana Palawan (Poona Piagapo), Hassanor Tawantawan (Salvador), Paruk Asis (Sapad), Ulwan Dimaporo (Sultan Naga Dimaporo) and Aisah Batingolo (Tangcal).
“Most of us are undefeated and we have strong candidates in every municipality. If we remain united as one solid team, then we can bring more progress and sustain the peace here in the province. I would like to thank all our development partners for continuing to support us and for making the decision to join NPC unanimous,” Dimaporo said.
Only the chief executives from the municipalities of Balo-i, Kauswagan, Maigo, Munai and Pantao Ragat did not join in the oathtaking ceremony.
The NPC has forged an alliance with the ruling Liberal Party of President Benigno Simeon Aquino III.
The NPC candidates for Lanao del Norte are set to file their certificates of candidacy at the Commission on Elections office in Iligan City today. (PR)
